-FESTIVAL!!! yesss. Janet and I went to the Carling Festival in Reading and it was amaaazing, Belle and Sebastian, Franz Ferdinand, Kaiser Chiefs, Peaches, The Guillemots, Fall Out Boy, (they were good ok) and more... it was so much fun, except at the end we got lost for like an hour trying to find the exit. not so good.
-

FALL
-No sports.
-Lots of homework, though.
-Homecoming. I made the picture backdrop, the sign on the DJ table, and two silhouettes, which are in the first picture. and homecoming princess but not queen haha.

-maybe that's all for fall. and I didn't even mean to rhyme. what do you know...

WINTER
-Basketball. Starter. Captain. then it all went down the drain, but that's a story for another time when I'm not so utterly depressed by it, haha.
-Winter break, Sacramento and Albuquerque with John. the pictures are pretty boring so you don't have to look haha. not that you would want to aaanyway!
-The Hague!!! for MUN. Representing... Bosnia Herzegovina. it was amazing, as usual. we went to clubs and uhh... to... I don't know... well we debated, the resolution I co-signed passed with only like 3 votes against it. so that was fun.

These past 6 months [06 Jun 2006|06:22pm]
have been very busy. yes I have succumbed to myspace. sorry. however-- pictures. by album.

The Hague Model United Nations would be under the album "hague", it was for MUN and was fun and a good experience. I saw Slobodan Melosovic on trial before his death, how intense is that?

Creative Connections is the album "cc06", it was some more video-ing.

next was basketball europeans, no pictures really, sorry. we placed 4th. I got picked to go and was happy about that, plus I saw someone pretty special when I was there.

and then... National History Day competition, Janet and I made a documentary on Thomas Paine and won second place in all of Europe. maybe I make it sound better than it is, but whatever, it was the worst trip ever haha. some pictures from that are under "janetandleah" but not that many so don't worry about it.

Spring Break I went to Albuquerque, and I had a wonderful time, pictures are under "spring06".

Prom... was last weekend, I went to Germany and had the best time ever. the guy I went with is now my boyfriend and long distance is going to suck. but we handled 4 months of an unofficial long distance relationship so... it should be alright. he's moving to Albuquerque, coincidentally. pictures for that are in "prom06".

So... that's all I can say. I've been having fun. hope everyone enjoys their summer. I'm out next week. tsssschuss!

France, Wales, and Ireland [15 Aug 2005|08:55pm]
These past few weeks have been a bunch of traveling. here is a short recap.

the 28th-8th, I was in France, where my aunt and uncle live, in Grenoble. I have two cousins there, Caroline, 6, and Julia, 3. it was very nice, my mom came wityh me for the first few days then she flew back and I flew back the 8th. my aunt took me and my mom to Provence for a day, that was nice. I went shopping in Grenoble and did a lot of fun things, it was a great week and a half. my aunt and cousins flew back with me on the 8th.

on the 10th we left with my mom to visit Wales and Ireland. we stayed the first night in Wales, the next three in Ireland, and then one more night in Wales. we got back today. it was really great. we saw a few beaches, more than a few castles, an Irish music & dance show called Bru Boru (I think that's how it was spelled) which alone was worth the whole trip. so yeah, Ireland was great, the people are really friendly, I'd pick that as a top five place I'd want to live.

I have some pictures if you want to see. go here

so all in all it has been a really great few weeks for me. take care everyone.

an offhand point [26 Jul 2005|03:58pm]
I have a lot to get done this summer and I don't know if I can.

especially since I'm going to France and Ireland for a few weeks. I guess I can do math while I'm there, though?

I wish I were more talented, and then I would not have to worry about it. but I have algebra and powerpoint issues. and less algebra and powerpoint talent than I thought.

hmm next year will be nice I think

summer time [11 Jul 2005|03:39pm]
let us start with the beginning...

graduation- short, sweet, sad. I was so happy and sad at the same time, seeing all these people graduate never to return to high school... aw mannn. some of my best friends. it's nice though. I'm glad I could go. me and my friend miguel took a cab up there from school, I was worried I'd have to go up there by myself but he didn't have a ride either, so I was like, MIGUEL! take a cab with me and I'll pay! so we hung out in Wycombe for a few hours being bored out our minds and then went to the church for graduation. (53 graduates... it is a small small school)

after graduation- let's not go there. haha.

real-summer: gone to Uxbridge twice, once with jesse and stephanie and another time just with jesse. saw movies, got starbucks, sat on a couch in a bookstore, etc., it was nice.
London total of four times... my dad's new boss has a daughter my age and she's living there temporarily, so it's someone to hang out with, she's nice. everyone else left, anyway, all my close friends live way far away 'cause it's a dorm school. anyway... my cousin was here, that was good. went to some museums, restaurants, good things. we saw the play chitty chitty bang bang-- so so cute! the bad guy was scary. haha. mann and the kids who play in it, they sing and act so well, how do they doooo it?! yeah, that was really good.

hmm and I've been keeping in shape and everything which is good... need to practice basketball though. =/

as for the recent happenings in London... screw whoever would do that, it's the best city ever. nothing's gonna change that.

also as a side note, the tunnel at my train station collapsed, so there's no train service towards London-- me and my cousin were in London, at the train station there, when it collapsed. we had to take the tube and get picked up. that was weird, to hear it on the loudspeaker in marylebone-- "...the tunnel over which a Tesco is being built in Gerrards Cross has collapsed..." I was like, ...that's miiiine, dannggitt. should be out of the way by the end of the summer though.

take care everyone and stay safe... love you all.

maybe I should update [16 May 2005|07:17pm]
a) track's over. it was a good season. I'll miss it.
b) prom wasn't the greatest. uhh I have pictures but I don't really want to post them or anything so if you want a link I'll give it to you. anyway, yeah, it was a waste of money but I'm glad I went, if you can understand that.
c) I'm helping with middle school basketball camp right now-- I'm probably the wrong person to be helping out because I have a lot to learn myself, but hey, it's the thought that counts. and I'm nice enough haha.
d) umm, no one commented on my art, haha.
e) Kim comes in less than two weeks and this makes me so freaking happy.
f) I'm sad that so many people, seniors and otherwise, are leaving after this year.
g) but I'm looking forward to the summer since I can go places and buy things and yeah, it won't be bad.
h) my sister came home yesterday... she's weird... but it makes things less boring at home.
i) ... I think that's it, guys. of course just about everything is really much more extended than this and I am supplying the shortened version of events, but all the same, that's what's happening with me.

love you all. have a wonderful week. and good luck everyone getting out of school, pass your finals and everything. 'night.

sunday-wednesday I was in Knaresborough, a town place in northern England... my dad had a conference in Leeds so we went and stayed at a bed and breakfast. it wasn't bad, but not exciting. it turns out Knaresborough is right next to another town where one of my friends lives, but I didn't get to see him as I had no way to contact him. that probably would have made it a better trip just to give me something to do besides go around with my mom and look at old castles and stuff, but it's okay. at least there were some nice pictures.

enough with that. I don't know what else to say.

hey, guys.

I don't like this, this... me write something that you may or may not read but it doesn't matter if you do or not because it's not... it's not anything. like, if I could write something and have it be a personal message to everyone who reads it, have it mean something, it would be cool. buttt I can't. so okay have a good day bye.

hey bambi [02 Apr 2005|06:37pm]

well it's only been a week but yeah, it did forget.

wtf computers don't have brains.

umm, yeah, this weekend has been good so far. best weekend in a while actually, but nothing tooo exciting... hung out in the dorms last night which could have been boring if not for certain things. or whatever haha. and today was a track meet and that was good, i did about the same as last time. but it's all good.

well yeah that's all I have to say. tomorrow we're going to the big base probably, which is crap, i want to look for a prom dress before i am screwed.

I swear I had something else to talk about but it doesn't exist anymore I guess. okay cool. bye now.

we had a track meet today, our school was first boys and girls. my first time in discus, I got 5th place out of ten, not terrible, threw 50'8". haha I sound like a freaking mangirl. but no. anyway. 4th in the 400 out of 8 people, not such a good time though. in the 4X400 relay, I was the last leg, and hardly anyone was running it so they put middle and high school boys and girls together. this middle school boy was coming up behind me and I didn't want him to pass me, so I start running all hard, and then he;s coming up right next to me and I look over to him and then I hear this thumpthump and he's on the ground and I beat him. haha I swear I didn't touch him. It was raining, which kind of sucked, but it's not so bad.

my geometry grade wasss a mistake, I didn't see the back of the last page. so my mistake, not his, he let me make it up. so yeah, no more C test.

umm what else... nothing else. 'night, take care.

edit: hey hey happy easter, since it's sunday now and everything. I mean if you celebrate easter. my mom started talking to me about the pope this morning and the easter bunny. freaking time change and my watch isn't working right so it's an hour and two minutes behind. I got new shoes for running today so that I won't kill my legs anymore... hope it works... and my spikes should come in this week.

oh hey did you hear, they found dinosaur tissue... with DNA... oh the wonders of geology. haha I just like dinosaurs. oh my gosh I am not cool. haha okay, stfu leah. one of these days I'll put some pictures up because you know you like those posts best. well that's a lie but be quiet. okay love you all, bye.

whenever I hear about this Terry Schiavo business on the news, I can't eat. and it sucks because the radio in the kitchen is always on BBC radio which has the news. So I will be getting out the salsa and then they're like "feeding tubes Terry Schiavo husband parents" (or that is basically what you get out of it) and it makes me feel sick, like... hospital stuff sick, I guess.. and there's all sorts of reasoning behind this that is just boring to go into, so I will just say, I think it is sad and sick and exploitation.

umm what else. my shins still hurt and that pisses me off. we have a meet saturday. but I'm not one to complain, so...

I'm doing well otherwise... nice things have been happening. as far as I am concerned.

listen to this, I have never gotten below a B on a math test... until now. I am really mad, and I think the teacher is total crap, because I am good at math, it's my best subject, it's not like I don't do my best on tests, and I just... I don't get Cs. I do not get freaking Cs in freaking math. if he made mistakes grading it I am going to shove it down his throat and burn it because I don't want to even have to see a C. okay the end.

as for my worst subject, chemistry, I got a 104 on the last test. lovely, fucking beautiful. actually it is pretty nice.

uhh, so, no more talking about tests... what else has happened. Plenty, but nothing I'm going to say anything about, because this isn't a "journal", it is practically a publication.

Basically, I am good, my chemistry grade is good, my math grade isn't, and neither are my shins. oh, my dad came back from Rome. He said it was dirty and had a lot of ancient things everywhere. he wants to go to Paris and so do I. umm I have to go do laundry now, love you bye.

3 day weekend [18 Mar 2005|08:00am]
[ music | Ship In A Bottle--Bright Eyes ]

(I start every entry with "so", so I am going to try to lay off the... so-ing.)

well. last week we took the terra nova, which is a dumb easy standardized test for the school system to evaluate how the school is teaching or whatever. It makes no sense that we should take it here, because at least like 2/3 of the school has gotten their previous education in some other school system. but whatever, I'm not complaining, it's not a huge deal and you get out of class. plus we have this day off today, so I might be going up to Lakenheath or London or somewhere else worthwhile.

what is not worthwhile is going up to the freaking town area of Gerrards Cross, like I did last weekend. not doing that again any time soon. anyway.

Scott Peterson was sentenced to death Wednesday. What do you say? Now we only have to wonder what will happen to Michael Jackson.

As for my life... umm, it is going pretty good, I have not been sentenced to death or been a pedophile or anything. can't complain.

(yeah, took parts out in editing, sorry if your comments don't make sense anymore, I know what you are talking about anyway)

track is going good but I have shin splints and the coach had to tape my legs up but it didn't really help and it sucks because we have a meet next week and I am doing the 400 and 4X400 and sdakjhff it sucks not to feel good.

if you want to email me so that I get it at school, leahfl_lchs@doddse.net but don't use bad language, this is issued by the government and you will be arrested. I mean, if you use bad language I won't get the email. but since I don't live at school, um, send me emails with lots of bad language to hellothere505@hotmail.com in case you did not know that? okay bye, take care everybody.

okay. [13 Mar 2005|10:19am]
so, it was my sister's birthday two days ago, she's 20 years old now, and two days. let's see, am I one of those people who thinks that one day, your birthday, makes that much difference in your age? well yes, because really all that matters is what is on paper, and now it is on paper that my sister is twenty which is a years worth of difference than the day before her birthday, march 10, when on paper she was 19. by on paper I mean officially. or whatever. so, my sister is twenty.

In English/World History we are reading the autobiography of Frederick Douglas, and I also just finished reading The Pianist which I picked up in London-- it is the memoirs of Wladyslaw Szpilman, the movie "The Pianist" was based on it (and based very firmly on it, literally scenes were taken out of the book and acted out exactly as Szpilman described it. the director, Roman Polanski, won an academy award for it and this he very much deserved.) and it's about his survival of the holocaust, it is written very well. (or translated very well, whatever.) So basically lately I have been reading a lot of material that makes you despise white power. Because with the Frederick Douglas book, you read about rich white men and women brutally abusing these people for the most petty offenses and thinking that it is okay-- making themselves less humane and more human, because it is obviously human to persecute and to take away the value of the lives of members of a certain race. And with Szpilman's book, well, it is about the holocaust, and this guy survives due to his own instinct and the help of others-- including a German officer who hated the war as much as a Jewish person or Polish person did. I don't know if this is human as well, the part of people that is humane, that makes a German officer save the life of a Jew in 1945. Who really knows what is human, though, I'm not going to get all philosophically into that.

But yes, so, with that on the mind, with things as they are in the world, it's kind of scary. because it is medieval, really, this... killing thousands of people because of false superiority. But if it could happen as little as sixty years ago, if slavery was less than two hundred years ago, how easily could it happen now? then again, as educated as most people are about the holocaust (why aren't people more educated about McCarthyism, by the way? or the imprisonment of Japanese during WWII? when it comes down to it that is just about as despicable.) hopefully people will know to prevent another calamity like that. Or I don't know what I'm talking about and it's not going to go either way. I don't know.

so that's really all I have to say about that. in other news... some people were shot in Wisconsin, that is shocking. if you have ever been to Wisconsin or if you live there, "shot in Wisconsin" is a much weirder statement than "shot in Amarillo" or "shot in L. A." or, haha, "shot in Albuquerque" (what is it, a murder a week there? someone was shot in a part of my neighborhood even, when we lived there, and it was the rich people part of a rich neighborhood.) So, if people are getting shot in Wisconsin, there is probably no hope for poor little Albuquerque. Sorry Martin Chavez, sorry Bill Richardson. maybe after 2008, yeah?
(edit: well, the shooting was near Milwaukee, which probably has a higher crime rate than the rest of the state. still less comman than Albq. though.)

This is the first weekend in a while where I have not been busy; last weekend I was at a friends house and in London, before that it was coming back from Germany and going... uhh I dunno, maybe I went to london then too? and before that, for weeks before that, it was basketball, and before that it was winter break. So, having gotten used to being busy on weekends, this really sucks that I am not. yesterday I was home alone all day and got so bored that I walked up to town and bought some pencils from WHSmith and some chips and stuff from the grocery store. There are these chips, or crisps, rather, that are really good, Walkers, and they mixed two kinds of chips together or something so for a limited time they are selling "cheese and pickle" flavored crisps, which sounds disgusting but I bought some and they taste like a sandwich. which isn't what chips should taste like but they weren't so bad. but I really do not like potato chips as they are greasy, and baked lays or ritz chips are the way to go.

track started, it's going good, but way too many people are on the team. I'm doing 400, 4x400, discus, and maybe the 200... I don't really like the 200 though, and I am no good at it, but I need four events if I want to letter without placing-- which I may very well not-- so I guess the 200 is okay. aughhghghgh too long until summer. and too long until the end of May, when my wonderful friend Kimberley will come and visit and it will be the best time ever, way too long until then. Track should make it go by faster, though, basketball made the winter go by pretty fast. like you said, Lori. thank goodness for sports, and for trips to Germany for sports, which we have two of plus a trip to Belgium.

My dad keeps going places, like to Frankfurt and DC and Albuquerque, so it is always me and my mom at the dinner table eating some half-the-effort from-the-freezer type of dinner. he said when he was applying for this job, that he would be traveling 40% of the time, but that combined with the mention of London got into my head and I didn't think too much of it. it's not like it was in Madison for two years, though, with him living in Ohio and coming up every few weeks. haha, it's funny, what I remember most about that is how there were only three plates to set because it was only me, my mom, and my sister. and how I would come home to his car in the driveway and get excited. well, I am not going to bore you with a big story about father-daughter relationships, so... take care, everyone. have a great week.
